Embrace Pet Isurance nReview

We like Embrace’s “Healthy Pet Discount Program” because it’s a unique way to save on your accident and illness insurance policy. If your claim payments are less than $300 per pet in the year prior to the discount period, you’ll be eligible for a 5% discount in the first year and a 10% discount per pet in the second year. Embrace will automatically calculate the savings on your annual payment or monthly bill. Embrace offers a wide range of customizable options, such as different annual coverage maximums and deductibles. It also offers a special accident plan for pet owners on a budget.

It includes behavioral therapy and alternative therapies like hydrotherapy, chiropractic, and acupuncture. Embrace includes stem cell treatments for conditions like tendon injuries. Embrace’s Types of Plans and Coverage

Embrace, which is on our list of the best pet insurance companies, offers an accident and illness plan that covers the widest range of issues and is the most popular type of coverage. It also offers a dedicated accident plan and a supplemental health plan.

Accident and Illness Insurance

These are the types of issues you can expect to see covered by Embrace’s accident and sickness plan.

Accidents

For example, broken bones, cuts, broken teeth, being hit by a car, and swallowing foreign objects.

Illnesses

For example, allergies, cancer, diabetes, skin infections, and congenital and genetic conditions such as hip dysplasia and intervertebral disc disease.

Hospitalizations

For example, emergency care and surgeries, including anesthesia, rehabilitation services, and vet/technician time. Specialized Care
This includes veterinarians, oncologists, behaviorists, and internal medicine specialists. It may also include alternative therapies and rehabilitation, such as acupuncture or laser therapy.

Specialist Care

This includes medications prescribed for a condition covered by your insurance policy, such as a skin infection. It may also include prescription food if your veterinarian has prescribed it for a condition covered by your insurance policy, such as digestive problems.

Prescription Medication

This includes prescription medicine for a problem covered by your policy, such as a skin infection. It can also include prescription food if it is prescribed by your veterinarian due to a problem covered by your policy, such as digestive issues.

Diagnostics

This includes blood tests, X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans.

Accident-Only Insurance

Embrace also offers an accident insurance policy that covers conditions such as hit-and-run injuries, foreign body ingestion, and torn cruciate ligaments.

Keep in mind that if you purchase an accident insurance policy, you will not have coverage for conditions typically covered by an accident and illness plan. For example, an accident insurance policy does not cover ear infections, diarrhea, and vomiting, which are common illnesses.

Embrace Add-Ons

Embrace also offers an additional Wellness Rewards program. This is not an insurance plan, but you can get a level of reimbursement for the cost of quality preventive care that can help you save money over a 12-month period.

Here’s how it works: You choose a reimbursement level of $250, $450, or $650 per year. You will then be charged a monthly amount for the plan. For example, a $250 reimbursement is $18.25 per month, which is equivalent to $225 per year. This means you can save up to $25 on preventive health care costs. Reimbursed items and services include:

  • Health screening fees
  • Vaccinations
  • Microchipping
  • Flea, tick and heartworm prevention
  • Dietary supplements
  • Spay/neuter
  • Routine blood and fecal testing
  • Grooming (including toenail clipping)
  • Medicated shampoos
  • Routine anal gland extractions
  • Gastropexy
  • Preventive dental cleanings
  • Prescription diet food
